Midway on Wednesday released first screenshots of the arcade sequel to Gauntlet Legends, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. In addition to warrior, valkyrie, wizard and the archer from the previous title, players can now also choose to be a sorceress, knight, dwarf, or jester. There will be four new alternate characters, as well as secret hidden texture for each of the main eight characters. The game also features an all-new attract mode with new in-game FMVs.

　　Gauntlet: Dark Legacy will use the password system, which will now handles all 16 possible characters. And as Gauntlet Legends had characters like the all-powerful Skorne, the new game introduces the good wizard (Sumner) and an evil brother (Garm). Garm uses his powerful magic to create the final boss in his own image.

　　Other new items include a block-and-defend move, turbos, power-ups, codes, and combos. In addition to the mountain, forest, desert and castle realms, the game will feature ice, town, sky and dream realms, and a battlefield. There will be more secret treasure rooms as well. All of the realms have been updated to include new paths and an added dimension of world animation.

　　Gauntlet: Dark Legacy is scheduled to appear in the arcades sometime in the next few months.
