Russian developer Primal Software has today released the first gameplay information on Besieger, a real-time strategy game set in a medieval fantasy world. The game will be story-driven, and it will see players assuming command of either Vikings or Cimmerian warriors.
As the name of the game suggests, structures will have a large role to play in Besieger, and players will be able to assemble their forces within the relative safety of their own armored citadel before heading off to attack enemy barricades armed with battering rams and the like. Vehicles will also be available to players, although beyond the horseback riders and flying vehicles that have been mentioned, there are no details available at this time.
In all, Besieger will feature 40 different types of buildings and more than 50 different units. Non-player factions will also appear in certain levels, including ogres, werewolves, and centaurs. The game's multiplayer modes of play will support up to 16 players over the Internet or a LAN, and tools for players to create their own levels will also be made available.
Besieger is currently scheduled for release in the third quarter of this year, although Primal is still seeking a publisher for the game with help from Octagon Entertainment. We'll bring you more information on the game as it becomes available.
