[UPDATE] Producer Brad Foxhoven said on the PlayStation Blog that the Heavenly Sword movie will be released in spring 2014. The movie will be available then digitally worldwide, and also at theaters in "select global markets."
The original story is below.
The upcoming CG-animated Heavenly Sword movie has received its first trailer. Spotted by Eurogamer, the brief trailer sets up the narrative for the movie, which will skip a theatrical release in favor of going direct to video.
The Heavenly Sword movie is based on Ninja Theory's 2007 PlayStation 3 game and is in production at Blockade Entertainment in association with PlayStation Worldwide Studios and Ratchet & Clank movie studio Rainmaker Entertainment.
The film features the voice work of Anna Torv, who voiced main character Nariko in the original game and would appear later on Fringe. The Heavenly Sword movie also stars Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2, The Man Who Knew Too Little) as King Bohan and Thomas Jane (The Punisher, The Mist) as Loki.
In the 2007 PS3 game, Lord of the Rings actor Andy Serkis played King Bohan. For more on Heavenly Sword, check out GameSpot's review.
