Final Fantasy XVI rethinks a lot of things about Square Enix’s long-running series, including its approach to difficulty. The game does offer two traditional difficulty options right off the bat – Action-Focused and Story-Focused – but the game also allows you to fine-tune your challenge with a variety of “Timely Accessories.” These are equippable items that allow you to make certain aspects of the game easier, but what exactly do they do, and are they something you’ll want to use? Here’s everything you need to know about Timely Accessories…
Should I use it?
Basic melee combos aren’t actually that important in Final Fantasy XVI, so you’re not going to change your experience that much one way or another by using this.
Should I use it?
If you have trouble timing your dodges in action games, by all means. This is one of the more significant Timely Accessories as dodging and parrying is a key to Final Fantasy XVI’s combat, so be aware you’ll be significantly reducing the game’s difficulty by turning it on.
Should I use it?
Only if you want to completely trivialize battle. But if you just want to waste enemies without having to worry about being hurt, have at it.
Should I use it?
Yeah, just go for it. Using potions doesn’t require any real skill and is actually kind of annoying at times as both your potion shortcuts and controls for Torgal share the d-pad. This accessory frees you up to think about more important things.
Should I use it?
There’s no particular reason to, particularly if your do use Ring of Timely Healing and thus don’t have to worry about switching between potion use and Torgal controls on the d-pad. Commanding Torgal is fun and can be key to pulling off some cool combos, but I suppose some folks aren’t dog people. So, that’s the rundown on Timely Accessories. Plan to make use of any of these? Or are you sticking to standard combat?
