On Tuesday morning, Eidos announced that it has extended its agreement with Squaresoft to publish the PC version of Final Fantasy VIII in Europe and Australia despite Square's yearlong association with Electronic Arts. A US publisher and release date for the PC version has yet to be announced.
"Eidos' commitment to the PC version of Final Fantasy VII has been obvious, and we have no doubt that our continuing relationship with Eidos will be mutually beneficial, resulting in strong sales of the PC version of Final Fantasy VIII," said Square president and CEO Tomoyuki Takechi.
Final Fantasy VII was published internationally, including in the US, by Eidos last year - although it was initially plagued by incompatibility with nVidia Riva 128 video cards. As of yet, there's still no word on who will publish FF8 for the PC in the States, or when it'll hit our shores. The PlayStation version of FF8 is scheduled for a September 9 launch date in the US.
