Melbourne-based community gaming group Couch Warriors has announced that the third annual Battle Arena Melbourne (BAM) fighting game tournament will be returning to Victoria's capital on the weekend of October 1 and 2.
Organizers expect over 300 of Australia's best players to participate in the weekend event, battling it out for trophies, prizes, and bragging rights in front of more than 13,000 viewers over live video stream. This year's games will include Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (one-on-one tournament and teams tournament), Marvel vs. Capcom 3, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2, Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Tekken 6, Virtua Fighter 5, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The most exciting matches in each pool will be streamed live along with all finals matches and preview events throughout the course of the two-day event.

BAM will also be holding a preview showcase of unreleased titles, giving punters an opportunity to try them out in a dedicated space. These titles include Street Fighter x Tekken, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and SoulCalibur V. There will also be a dedicated social play area at the tournament.
Couch Warriors has also announced it will be partnering with Melbourne cocktail and video game bar, The Mana Bar, for a pre-BAM exhibition event to be held on Thursday, September 29.
