Nelson "Remix" Reyes, a longtime member of the New York fighting game community who played with eSports team Empire Arcadia, has passed away, team owner and founder Isaiah "Triforce" Johnson confirmed with GameSpot sister site OnGamers. He was 28.

No cause of death was officially confirmed. A statement from Johnson provided to OnGamers is posted below.

He lived his life to the fullest. I'm happy to have known him. All he wanted was to play video games and enjoy the company of his friends and family. He did just that this weekend. Hanging out with Cole Tocci, Samantha Hancock, Kevin Landon, James Fink, Christopher Gonzalez, Erin Diaz, Michael Dicks and more playing games and watching the Lord of the Rings Marathon. All Hail Emp Remix. Empire Arcadia will make sure that you are not forgotten and follow out your last request. Make EMP successful and keep the family alive.

He most notably competed in fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Super Street Fighter IV.

Reyes' final tweet reads: "Turning off my humanity switch…"

A memorial fund for Reyes has been established to assist his family in covering funeral costs. For more on this story, you can read the detailed report at OnGamers.
