Fatal Frame II Director's Cut dated-October 2024

Tecmo today announced a solid ship date for Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Director's Cut. The Xbox-exclusive upgraded version of the publisher's survival horror sequel will ship to retail stores this Monday, November 1.

"With the blockbuster success of movies based on Japanese horror, psychological thrillers are gaining widespread interest, focusing on mind games over blood and horror," said Tecmo's director of marketing John Inada. "If horror fans like these types of films, they will love Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Director's Cut, which not only plays with their minds but virtually immerses them into its world of terror."

Based on the PlayStation 2 title released earlier this year, Fatal Frame II follows the story of twin sisters trapped in an abandoned village. They must face down demonic spirits and ghouls armed with only their cameras. New modes for the Xbox release include a first-person view and a survival challenge that pits the girls against one ghoul after another in rapid succession.

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Director's Cut is rated "M" for Mature and will carry an SRP of $49.99. For more information, see GameSpot's review.
