Fallout 4 is going to receive plenty of additional content in the future, including a major overhaul of Survival Mode, which promises to be quite challenging. Not much has been said this overhaul, but Bethesda's Todd Howard has recently shared more on how Bethesda will proceed in implementing the mode on all formats.

　　As previously revealed, the new Fallout 4 Survival Mode is going to undergo some beta testing before getting released on all formats. Mr. Howard recently revealed to GameInformer that the mode will come with a lot changes that can be pretty dramatic. Once the team gets everything honed, it will be put on Steam beta for a while. The launch of the Survival Mode beta is not going to be months and months off, as the team want to get it up as soon as possible.

　　Mr. Howard has also added that if Survival Mode doesn't really work and requires more work, it may stay in beta for a while, depending on what the team is changing. Things, however, are already looking good, as Todd Howard already played through the bits that have been done and feels like it's the most fun he's had playing Fallout.

　　If it’s not really working, and we need to iterate on it, it may stay in beta for a month, depending on what we are changing. But we want to make it have the game feel different. The bits we’ve done, and me recently playing it, it’s absolutely some of the most fun I’ve had playing Fallout. I mean that honestly. It changes it in a good way for me, but it might not for everybody.

　　Among the changes the team is trying for the mode is the ability to save only when sleeping, no fast traveling, a variety of diseases and more. The team is also trying to make combat feel different, avoiding making enemies just bullet sponges.

　　We’re doing things like you can’t save, it only saves your game when you sleep. You can’t fast travel. There’re all of these diseases. We’re trying it all. It’s a different experience. We’re not trying to make it a ton harder. It’s harder because you’re doing more things. We want the combat to feel different, as opposed to just being a bullet sponge.

　　Fallout 4 is now out on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in all regions.
