Final Fantasy XVI PC Version Is Likely Going to Require an SSD; All DLC May Be Included-October 2024
Oct 25, 2024 4:22 AM

The PC version of Final Fantasy XVI may require an SSD, producer Naoki Yoshida suggested in a new interview.

Speaking with Japanese magazine Famitsu regarding the newly announced DLC, Yoshida-san talked about the PC version of the game and the system requirements, which will be announced in due time. Despite not talking about them, Yoshida-san recommended players get an SSD, as Final Fantasy XVI is a game where loading speed is critical, and optimizations may not be enough to overcome a hardware barrier. Both DLC expansions may also be included in the PC release, suggesting it will be released at the same time as the second expansion, which is scheduled for a Spring 2024 release.

Having been developed for PlayStation 5, which comes with an M.2 SSD, it is not surprising to learn that the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI may require an SSD. More and more games have been leaving old mechanical drives behind, so it definitely seems like the time when most major releases will require a solid state drive is inching closer and closer.

Final Fantasy XVI is now available on PlayStation 5. A release date for the PC version has yet to be officially confirmed.
