Diablo II was the top-selling PC game for the month of August, according to the latest PC Data statistics. The Sims, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire 2nd Edition, and Starcraft all maintained strong sales and remained in the top five. Unreal Tournament jumped into the top ten amidst recent media attention concerning the recent improvements made in the game engine.

　　The weekly sales data demonstrates the ability of a good expansion pack to boost sales of the original. After the release of The Sims Livin' Large and the Age of Empires II: The Conquerors expansion packs, the original versions of both games climbed their way back up the top ten list. Homeworld: Cataclysm also posted strong sales and placed tenth in its first week of release.
