How do you jumpstart a new League? You ensure you have sufficient funding, exact plans and the approval of the community. The idea behind the Electronic Sports Professionals League is simple: a tournament with weekly cash prizes that will, towards the end of the season, escalate to a finale featuring $5000 cash prize and 50% of their DotaTV ticket sales. It even comes with a custom courier of its own.

Virtually anyone will be able to participate in the weekly series as they require no access fee. In the initial announcement, the organizers divulged that the plan was to, among other things, provide a platform for both casual and hardcore gamers as well as to potentially offer a truly international competitive environment. Big ambitions, perhaps, but here's hoping that they succeed at them. Registration will begin on January 12th 2014.
