Fornite, Epic Games' PC-exclusive "Minecraft meets Left 4 Dead" sandbox game, will not be released in 2013, the developer told GameSpot this afternoon.
"While we are excited by the progress on Fortnite, we don't have any release timelines to share just yet. It won't be this year," the representative said.
The Unreal Engine 4-powered Fortnite was announced in December 2011, but Epic Games has keep largely quiet on the project since. The game was not featured at E3, PAX, Gamescom or any other shows this year.
In April, a small group of fans were the first outside of Epic Games to try out Fortnite.
Epic Games also confirmed today that Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgment developer Epic Games Poland (nee People Can Fly) is one of multiple studios working on Fortnite.
Fortnite is described as a cooperative sandbox survival game, with gameplay divided into two main sections: day and night. During the day, players will work together to build fortifications using whatever materials can be scavenged and scrounged. Once night falls, they will retreat into their forts as they hope to fend off waves of monsters and survive until morning.
