What. Okay. Yay-yeah. You happy now?
Music plays an integral part of the upcoming Def Jam: Icon, the urban-themed fighting game from Electronic Arts' Chicago studios. While hip-hop was simply a backdrop in previous Def Jam games, songs will be incorporated into the gameplay of Icon with players pounding each other in environments that actually react to the music.
As a result, picking music for the game was more than a simple marketing tie-in, and today, EA announced the game's soundtrack.
Included in this year's crop of tracks are multiple songs from Lil Jon, Redman, Sean Paul, The Game, Young Jeezy, and others, as well as one-offs from veterans Nas, Ghostface, and Ludacris. A full list of songs and artists is below.
For those who prefer to beat down to their own beats, a My Soundtrack feature for the Xbox 360 allows gamers to load their own MP3s into the game, which will affect the environment just like songs from the soundtrack.
Def Jam: Icon is rated M for Mature and will be on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 6. A demo of the game is expected to be released over Xbox Live "soon." For more information, read GameSpot's previous coverage.
