EA Play Subscription Comes To Steam Later This Month-November 2024
Nov 1, 2024 2:26 PM

Electronic Arts' newly named subscription service EA Play, a combination of both EA Access and Origin Access, is making its way to Steam on August 31.

This means you can play a bunch of EA titles--such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Titanfall 2, as well as upcoming releases like Madden NFL 21 and Star Wars: Squadrons--on Steam for the cost of a single subscription. While EA Play launches on Steam later this month, the service is currently available on PC via Origin, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Steam launch makes it the fourth platform EA Play will be available on.

Following the consolidation and name change, the formerly known Origin Access Premier is now called EA Play Pro. Both EA Play and Play Pro are available on PC for Origin and Steam. Play costs $5 a month ($30 a year), while Play Pro retails for $15 a month ($100 a year). EA Play provides limited access to a vault of games, whereas EA Play Pro expands on that to provide unlimited access to more games, including new releases. EA Play, by contrast, includes a 10-hour trial for new releases, as well as early access to games like Madden NFL 21 (starting August 21) and FIFA 21 (starting October 1).

Though the branding changed, the benefits remain the same. EA Play lets you play hundreds of games, typically from EA's own catalog, and gives you free trial periods and access to games ahead of launch. Play Pro functions like Xbox Game Pass, letting you play as many games as you want without restrictions.

The rollout on Steam marks the latest expansion of EA's presence on the platform. During its E3-style event in June--confusingly, known as EA Play Live--the company rolled out a number of additional games to Steam after years of largely ignoring the service in favor of its own Origin platform.
