EA marches Zubo to DS
EA marches Zubo to DS-February 2024
Feb 22, 2025 1:43 PM

Last Friday, Ubisoft revealed its latest attempt to woo the tween demographic, announcing that it would be returning to the rhythm genre with Imagine Rock Star, an arcade-style music game slated to arrive for the Nintendo DS this June. Today, Ubisoft partial owner EA said it would be targeting a similar sect with Zubo, a "music-based rhythm-action game" aimed at boys and girls under 12 that is expected to arrive exclusively for the DS this fall.

The Zubalon army gives no quarter to the wicked. A product of EA's Casual Entertainment Label, Zubo promises a rhythm action game experience that sounds not entirely unlike Sony Worldwide Studios' recently released Patapon, where players will dictate battles by tapping their stylus in time with the music. Tykes will be posited as the head of the fanciful Zubalon army and must use the whimsical Zubos to battle the megalomaniacal forces of the Zombas.

Players will be able to collect and strengthen 55 different Zubos, and the game also packs in a number of minigames. Zubo is being developed by EA's Bright Light studio in Guildford, UK.
