Coming in at the end of the Xbox E3 2019 press conference, Microsoft revealed a new trailer for Halo Infinite, the next installment in their long-running sci-fi shooter franchise. It featured a stranded UNSC ship picking up the body of series protagonist Master Chief, suggests that the UNSC has lost the war against the Covenant, and shows us a destroyed Halo array.
But the trailer also showed us something else, and it was definitely a "blink and you'll miss it" kind of deal. At approximately 3 minutes and 30 seconds into the trailer, Master Chief gets an injection of power that wakes him from his slumber. We see the action from his point of view, meaning we're treated to an array of diagnostics that fill the screen as he reactivates.

Now Playing: Halo Infinite E3 Trailer Has No Gameplay But Is All In On Story
Some incredibly perceptive viewers (via Polygon) saw the numbers on screen, and intuited that they might translate into Xbox redemption codes. They were right.
so we were messing about on the @Xbox E3 briefing when I saw some codes from the halo showcase and it turns out it was a code for 12 month xbox game pass ultimate subscription pic.twitter.com/3rmhm8lPWR

Master Chief's diagnostics translated into codes for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the newly launched Microsoft service which combines subscriptions for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Live Gold, and as of Xbox's press conference, Xbox Game Pass For PC. It's certainly a nice little easter egg to discover--Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED hid messages in their trailer during last year's Xbox press conference.
Xbox spent much of their 2019 press conference emphasizing their support for Xbox Game Pass, making sure to note a number of upcoming games that would launch on the service as soon as they become available. They also detailed what the service would look like on PC, confirming a few extra titles catered specially for the platform. They also shared official details concerning their next Xbox console, codenamed Scarlett.
