Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number has already been described as the final game in the series. If that ultimately proves to be the case, developer Dennaton Games is ensuring there won't be any shortage of content for it, as it announced today that it's adding a new level editor to the upcoming game.
A trailer released today shows the editor in action, as well as the wide variety of tools level creators will have at their disposal. In quick succession, it shows how you can build rooms, add windows and flooring, and place furniture. It also offers a glimpse at some of the different enemies that can be placed with different (albeit basic) behaviors and weapons of your choosing.
Once you've created and perfected your deathtrap, you'll be able to share it with others online. That should ensure that, provided you have Internet access, you're never left without new levels to play if this is indeed the end for the Hotline Miami franchise, as the games' makers told Time last year.
"After intense negotiations Dennaton Games has agreed to let me create a level called Fork Parker's Mansion of Pain using the new Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number level editor," said publisher Devolver Digital's CFO, Fork Parker. "One room is just seven dogs and a dude with an Uzi. Good luck, nerds."
Wrong Number is scheduled for release "later this year" on the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. It's at E3 this week, so expect to hear much more soon.
