DreamCatcher signs SuperPower 2
DreamCatcher signs SuperPower 2-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 11:14 AM

DreamCatcher has announced that it has signed the sequel to last year's SuperPower, calling that game a "surprise hit." SuperPower 2 will give players another opportunity to compete for world domination in a highly detailed modern-day setting. The sequel will add multiplayer support and also promises new 3D graphics, improved missions, and more-intelligent computer opponents.

SuperPower 2 has a slightly different focus, as players will no longer directly control a nation, but will rather adopt a specific character. As a result, the political, social, and economic elements of the game should take on new importance and will play a key role alongside military considerations. Like the previous game, SuperPower 2 will be based on real-world census and military data.

"As our first non-adventure release, SuperPower admittedly had some technical shortcomings, but was a surprise hit for us in 2002," said DreamCatcher CEO Richard Wah Kan. "Sales for the game are approaching the 100,000-unit mark, so obviously the gameplay and subject matter struck a chord with strategy gamers."

SuperPower 2 is currently scheduled for release in late 2004.
