Dragon Age, Army of Two get comics-January 2024
Jan 11, 2025 6:43 AM

Although Electronic Arts is a game publisher first and foremost, its aspirations extend far beyond that limited scope. Two more EA projects are finding their way into new media, as EA announced a partnership today with IDW Publishing to launch comic books based on the Army of Two and Dragon Age franchises.

The imprint will launch in January with the first issue of the Army of Two series, penned by Peter Milligan and drawn by Dexter Soy. The series' debut will take place between Army of Two and its upcoming sequel, The 40th Day. Both Army of Two and Dragon Age will be monthly series released under IDW's new EA Comics imprint, with versions of each issue available in comic stores and as iPhone and iPod Touch downloads on Apple's iTunes store.

No interior artist has been announced for Dragon Age: Origins, but it will be written by Orson Scott Card. The author of the sci-fi classic Ender's Game has worked in both comics and games before, having handled story chores for the Ultimate Iron Man comic, as well as the recently released Xbox Live Arcade game Shadow Complex.

Both Army of Two and Dragon Age have already expanded beyond the gaming world. Universal Pictures acquired the rights to make a feature film based on Army of Two last year, and Dragon Age has already been turned into both a novel and a tabletop role-playing game.

Dragon Age will launch on the Xbox 360 and PC November 3, with the PlayStation 3 edition following later in the month. Army of Two: The 40th Day is set for release on January 12 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PSP.
