The bundle has remained on the top sellers page of the Dota 2 store ever since it was added into the game. Last week's Dota 2 update introduced a new special MLG Bundle to the Dota 2 store, the $10 bundle contains a new Courier, HUD, Ward, Battle Point Booster and makes your account eligible for Tournament item drops. In an effort to boost the Dota 2 prize pool at MLG Columbus it was agreed upon that $2.50 from every bundle purchase would go directly towards the prize pool and ultimately directly to the players.
Although the bundle has only been in the store for a few days the Dota 2 community has already been able to double the total prize pool to a massive $100,000, the figure is still currently rising and will continue to do so whilst the bundle remains on sale until the end of the event.
Speaking to onGamers Adam Apicella the Executive Vice President for MLG Properties said:
"We're thrilled to be able create a tournament environment that not only serves as entertainment for the fans, but helps create income for the players competing. We have more time until MLG Columbus ends, so I hope that the prizes get even larger as we approach championship Sunday."
MLG's Columbus Dota 2 tournament also features a split prize pool that will be distributed across all of the nine teams that are attending the event in the following breakdown:
Position | Percentage of the Prize Pool (Figures based on $100,000) |
---|---|
1st | 50% (Minimum of $50,000) |
2nd | 20% (Minimum of $20,000) |
3rd | 10% (Minimum of $10,000) |
5th to 9th | 2% (Minimum of $2,000) |
