Doom 3 patch up, demo due "in days"
Doom 3 patch up, demo due "in days" -September 2024
Sep 21, 2024 12:36 AM

Now that the firestorm surrounding Doom 3's release has finally died down, the game has become the subject of more mundane stories--like a patch release, for instance. Today, developer id Software has released the first patch for its semi-celebrated shooter. Available on GameSpot DLX, the beta update v1.05 corrects several single- and multiplayer issues, as well as adds gameplay and interface tweaks.

More exciting is the news that the Doom 3 demo is "coming in a few days," according to id programmer Robert Duffy's .plan. "[It] is finishing the last stages of QA," read Duffy's post. "It should give everyone waiting to buy the game a taste of what Doom 3 is all about." Duffy also gave details about the demo, which can be reserved now via GameSpot DLX. "It contains 3 levels of the game and is single-player only," he said.

Duffy also said the Doom 3 SDK is "ready to go...as soon as the update is out in nonbeta form, the SDK will be made available for download." He said the same was true of the Linux-dedicated server for the game.
