The new year is already kicking off with its first game showcase: Demospree, a five hour celebration of 21 upcoming indie games being shown off live on Twitch by five different streamers.
Spearheaded by the developers of the upcoming puzzle game Seasonspree, Demospree is focused on showcasing "adorable, wholesome games," all of which are set to release in 2021. These games will be played live on Twitch by five streamers: SeriouslyClara, Wanderbot, Retromation, ReeRee, and Adriosa, so viewers can get a look at what these titles are bringing to the table firsthand.
The event will start January 5 at 2 PM PT/5 PM ET on Twitch and will feature several highly anticipated indie games including the colorful painting game Chicory (formerly known as Draw Dog), farm-to-table bakery sim Lemon Cake, animal arcade adventure Button City, and food-physics playground Nour.
"There are a lot of amazing games slated for release in 2021, and we want to give players an intro to what’s coming our way this year," said organizer Clifton B, a designer on Seasonspree who has worked as an interaction designer at various game studios. "We're aiming to promote pleasant, adorable, and non-aggressive titles from smaller teams."

Demospree follows in the footsteps of Wholesome Games Direct and Wholesome Snacks, and shares a few demos with these previous shows, along with some new finds. Teacup and A Space for the Unbound, two games being featured in the show, were included on GameSpot's 50 indie games to keep an eye on in 2021. There are plenty of other indie gems on Demospree's roster, so check it out if you're looking to update your upcoming games list.
