Do you want to be a record breaker?
Do you want to be a record breaker?-January 2024
Jan 19, 2025 8:08 AM

Guinness World Records recently launched its first ever offshoot with the Gamer's Edition 2008. The 256-page book is a veritable bible of games records including high scores for many popular titles and other, quirkier records. Do you know who holds the record for the longest prison sentence for playing a game? That award goes to the UK's very own Faiz Chopdat, jailed for four months for playing Tetris on his mobile phone during a flight and arrested upon his arrival in Manchester.

Guinness World Records has now organised an event for the "largest gathering of games characters" and is calling on cosplayers far and wide to suit up and join the soirée.

If you want to join in, you'll need to send an email to [email protected]. All characters that attend will appear in the Guinness World Records Gamers' Edition 2009 and on the official Gamers' Edition Web site, and will receive a free gift for coming out as a cosplayer. Needless to say, the GameSpot UK crew will be coming along dressed up to the nines in our finest cosplay duds.

The record attempt will take place at the Millennium Bridge in London on March 18 and participants will need to arrive at 10:30a.m. for an 11:00a.m. start.

For more on the Gamer's Edition you can hear Gareth Deaves from Guinness World Records on yesterday's GameSpot UK Podcast and a video interview with Gamer's Edition editor Keith Pullin can be found on an upcoming edition of Start/Select.
