TOKYO - The Tokyo Game Show opened its doors Friday to members of the press and gaming industry. It promised to be a stellar show from the beginning, with the Dreamcast's first public appearance in playable form, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy VIII, WonderSwan, Neo-Geo Pocket, the PlayStation PDA (PocketStation), and a lot of campaign girls (who could forget those).
Certain areas of the show were very crowded, like Sega's booth, Konami, Namco, and Square. Others weren't so crowded. This year, CESA sectioned off a whole hall for companies to set up booths to just sell game goods (good idea).
Tomorrow will be a mix of insanity, as the public is allowed in and will probably get unruly very quickly. As we left Makuhari Messe at 6pm in Tokyo, a line to get into the convention center for tomorrow morning had already begun forming. How's that for fun? Anything to see Dreamcast, eh?
