For two decades now, the star of Namco's Dig Dug has been furiously burrowing through the earth, tunneling networks that would do the Mole Man proud and generally making Swiss cheese out of his planet. While gamers didn't have to concern themselves with the greater geological impact of their careless cavern creations and subsequent spelunking in the original arcade classic, players of Dig Dug Digging Strike on the DS will have to count on it.

　　Monsters have come to terrorize the chain of islands where Dig Dug lives, and it's up to the excavation expert to tunnel along fault lines, sending monster-infested chunks of islands sinking off into the ocean. As they progress through the game's 15 stages, players will go beyond the standard air pump to bring an arsenal of new weapons to bear against the monsters, making effective use of lava streams and falling rocks along the way. For a break from the main action, Digging Strike also includes versions of Namco arcade games Horivalou and Hori X.
