Inscryption is a roguelike card game, but to advance through it, you'll need to get to know both the card game itself and the room around the table. It's possible to stand up in between card game bouts and wander around Inscryption's setting, investigating objects, finding clues, and solving puzzles that will help you advance the narrative.
The first big puzzle you'll need to solve involves a safe standing against one wall of the cabin. Getting into it isn't tough--once you have the combination. But with the spooky opponent to deal with, a fairly complex card game to learn, and a lot of other puzzles to understand, it can be a bit tricky to find what you're looking for.
Below, we'll put you on track to finding the safe combination, while also providing the solution if you'd rather just have the answer. You might also want to check out our Inscryption tips for beginners, and once you open the safe, read our slide puzzle guide for help with the cabin's next challenge.
Your first stop is the safe, and you'll get hints as to where to find the combination if you listen. It's good practice to wander around the cabin, interacting with everything you can, and paying attention to what it teaches you. The combination is written down somewhere in the room, so be diligent in finding out everything you can to unlock it.
Solution
The combination to the safe is written down in the rule book, which you'll find to the left of your seat at the card table. It's scribbled at the top of the page explaining the Mighty Leap sigil, and you'll be prompted to check it out after you've played some games and started to see some of the rules of the card game come into focus.
Open the safe with the combination 2-7-3. You'll need to set the number on each of the three dials, starting with the top one and working down.
Inside, you'll find the Stink Bug card--another character who will help you find the path forward in escaping the cabin. You'll also get the chest key, which will get you to your next big mystery of the cabin, the slide puzzle drawers.
