Fans of the long-running show The Simpsons are known for their hardcore devotion to the series' every detail, especially its first few seasons. Recently, one fan used his editing prowess to uncover a punchline that had laid intentionally hidden for more than 30 years.

As discussed on an episode of the Talking Simpsons Podcast, the joke occurs in the Season 3 episode "The Otto Show," where Bart attends a Spinal Tap concert. Just before Homer and Bart leave, Marge says that the band might be too loud for Bart, and Homer replies that he went to many heavy metal shows and never had a problem with it. Marge's response is then overpowered by ringing, in a demonstration of Homer's apparent tinnitus.

As the above clip reveals, the show's writers did note in a commentary track that the line that Marge speaks is funny, but because of the mixing, no one has ever heard it. That changed when fan Ewzzy Rayburn used Adobe Audition to isolate Marge's voice. The line is revealed to be, "Well, all right, but make sure they don’t pick up any of the band’s attitude toward women, liquor, religion, politics…really anything." Luckily for Marge, Bart has remained the same rebellious kid for the show's 34 seasons. In other news, a YouTuber recently remade all of The Simpsons: Hit & Run from scratch.
