While some games have been derogatorily referred to as "walking simulators" in the past, Devolver Digital's Baby Steps is fully embracing that idea and putting its best foot forward. Coming to PC and PS5 in 2024 from developers Gabe Cuzillo, Maxi Boch (Ape Out), and Bennett Foddy (QWOP), Baby Steps puts you in control of Nate, a "failson" who finds himself transported to a magical world where he discovers the power of controlled falling.

　　You'll be able to explore this world one step at a time as you make your way up a mountain, and you'll have to place each footstep yourself on this hike. Devolver Digital says that the game has "fully-simulated" physics-based walking, a world that seems to come alive with a dynamic soundtrack built up over hundreds of beats, and most impressively, a fully dynamic onesie soilage system.

　　"Take in the sights, fall in love with the local fauna, and try to find meaning in a wasted life," the slightly depressing synopsis reads.

　　As seen in the trailer above, walking sounds far easier to do than it actually is. There are various hazards and apathetic donkeys to watch out for, and one wrong step on muddy ground, treacherous rocks, or poorly constructed bridges can end Nate's grand quest to climb to the top of the mountain. You'll also have to be careful of where you throw Nate's feet, as knocking over a collection of rocks by accident could get you a severe talking-to from a random tradesman.
