A massive storm ripped through the United Kingdom on Christmas Eve, leaving Hello Games' office in Guildford completely flooded. Despite the devastation, the studio will release Joe Danger Infinity, the latest installment in the stunt racing franchise, exclusively on iOS on January 9.
Studio founder Sean Murray confirmed the news in an interview with Polygon. The game is described as the biggest Joe Danger yet, and will include around 20 new vehicles.
"We're here in a cramped little upstairs room, with makeshift PCs and water slowly rising to the electrics ... because we have a game to release!" Murray said.
Joe Danger Infinity is the third installment in the series, following Joe Danger (2010), Joe Danger 2: The Movie (2012), and Joe Danger Touch (2013).
Hello Games is also working on the ambitious and procedurally generated space game No Man's Sky.
The studio reportedly lost everything--including PCs, monitors, and furniture--during the flood last month, and the company's insurance will not cover the damage. It remains unclear how the developer will move forward and if No Man's Sky has been materially impacted.
