Many fans of Bungie have been clamoring for a PC port of the developer's shooter, Destiny. The studio has refused to say anything about a PC version of the game, however, instead opting to focus on the console versions. But now, it appears that Bungie might be gearing up to develop for PC. The studio is hiring a "PC Compatibility Tester."
Spotted on the Bungie careers page, the PC Compatibility Tester will be primarily responsible for assessing a game's quality on computers. The job listing sounds fairly similar to other QA jobs, except this one is specifically focused on making sure a game works on PC.
"The PC Compatibility Tester will evaluate PC hardware-specific features and ensure various systems work together across multiple PC configurations to provide a great experience," the description explains. "This is a challenging area to test, so we are only looking for the most resilient and technically minded testers. If you love solving new problems on a continuous basis with an eye for detail, you will love PC Compatibility Test at Bungie."
It's been a long time since a Bungie game came to PC. Halo 2 was the most recent Bungie title that made its way to PC. It was ported by Microsoft Game Studios and it ran exclusively on the Windows Vista operating system.
The job description, however, suggests that Bungie is making a PC game in-house. The most logical explanation for this position is that Bungie is finally working on porting Destiny to PC. This isn't much of a surprise, since back in June 2014, publisher Activision stated that the game is a "natural fit" on computers.
It probably will be at least a few months before we hear anything more about this, however. Bungie is currently working on a big new expansion for Destiny, called The Taken King. It launches on September 15 and adds a huge new location to the game.
