Heads up, Destiny 2 players. Bungie has just revealed that the price of the Season Pass will be increased after the beginning of Season 21. It's not a small increase, either, as it's an increase of 20% compared to the previous price. This development was announced in a This Week At Bungie blog post in which the developer stated that they will be "evaluating new approaches to post-launch content in the year of The Final Shape."

　　With The Final Shape marking the end of the current Light and Dark saga in Destiny 2, many players were beginning to wonder what would happen to Season Passes. Unfortunately, it seems like the price for them will be increase from $10 to $12 USD for each season. So, starting from Season of the Deep, players will have to pay the following prices:

　　Season Pass: 1,000 Silver -> 1,200 SilverSeason Pass + 10 Ranks Bundle: 2,000 Silver -> 2,200 SilverThe Season Pass has been a bit of an issue with some players since it hasn't offered much for them outside of a sunk-cost fallacy that's manifested through repetitive activities. That's not the only issue, however, as the new price is also inconsistent with the way Silver is distributed through the game's shop. See, in Destiny 2, Silver comes bundled at several different prices. $5 will net you 500, $10 will net you 1,100, so on and so forth. To be able to pay the Season Pass, you have to purchase $15 worth of Silver ($5 + $10 bundles) unless you already have that amount.

　　Considering the fact that Destiny 2 saw an increase in price with expansions from $40 to $50, this feels like additional salt on the wound for players. It's worth noting that the Season Pass price will remain for the rest of the Lightfall standard edition and the Lightfall + Annual Pass edition of the game. As for why this was implemented? Bungie did not state any reason behind this new increase in price. Since Season Passes tend to last 3 months, some players who consistently purchase these will be faced with increasing costs in the near future.

　　Destiny 2 is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Destiny 2: Lightfall expansion will be available on February 28, 2022.
