The game makers at Outrage Entertainment and Volition have released the source code for Descent II. In a note posted on the source-code site, Matt Toschlog of Outrage Entertainment and Mike Kulas of Volition Inc. released the source code to eager and creative gamers hoping to add their own style and imagination to the world of Descent II.
After the source code for the original Descent was released, the developers of Descent II were so pleased with the development projects that had branched out from the source code that they decided to release this source code in the hope of bringing new additions to the Descent II universe.
Programmers will still need a full copy of Descent II to build new levels and additions to the series since some of the files were taken out of the source code for legal issues. And of course, the code is only for noncommercial and nonrevenue-making projects.
