Sep 21, 2024 2:46 AM

Few gaming execs go through business card updates as frequently as Take-Two's Gary Dale. After taking the chief operating officer reins from Terry Donovan at Take-Two subsidiary Rockstar Games in January 2007, Dale was promoted to executive vice president of the publisher's sales, distribution, and business expansion less than a year later.

Today, Take-Two said that Dale has been appointed company COO, continuing his duties as senior VP and now charged with overseeing the game maker's various publishing labels. Dale will report to Take-Two CEO Ben Feder.

"Gary Dale has been a valuable member of the company's management team, serving in a number of increasingly important roles," said Feder in a statement. "He also is highly experienced in many of the disciplines that will be essential to Take-Two's future growth, including the operations of our publishing labels, global market expansion, sales and distribution, and business development. We look forward to further contributions from Gary in his new position as our COO."

Dale was president of the interactive software and video division of BMG Entertainment from 1994 to 1998, when the company was taken over by Take-Two Interactive. In his five years at Take-Two, he oversaw the release of more than 30 games, including the original Grand Theft Auto. Prior to rejoining Rockstar in 2007, Dale served as Capcom's European managing director.
