Cuphead Release Window Gets Pushed Back to Mid-2017
Cuphead Release Window Gets Pushed Back to Mid-2017-October 2024
Oct 18, 2024 4:28 PM

Some bad news for anyone expecting to see gorgeous 2D platformer this year. The highly anticipated indie game Cuphead by StudioMDHR will be released Mid-2017.

The news came from the Team Cuphead blog when they announce that they pushed back the release window of Cuphead from later this year to the middle of 2017.

Hey everyone, we wanted to finish our game 80 years after 1936 but it will now be 81.

Throughout this year we discussed reducing the scope to make a 2016 release, but we made the difficult decision to delay the launch in order to ship with our vision intact. We are happy to announce that Cuphead will be coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam in Mid-2017.

We are constantly humbled by your continued support. Love you all and can’t wait to get this to you. Without further ado, we will get back to work!

Technically, this isn't a delay because it never had a release date in the first place, just a tentative window. Considering that StudioMDHR is a two-man studio, it's easy to see why it's taking so long.

What really got people excited about Cuphead is the art-style that's inspired by the 1930s cartoons as well as the insanely challenging boss battles and platforming stages.

Cuphead is hopefully coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam mid-2017. The game was also one of our anticipated indie games of 2016 which I guess now becomes one of our anticipated indie games of 2017.
