Get ready for more all-out karate mayhem as Netflix's Cobra Kai returns on September 9 and has Daniel Larusso and company ready to fight for their lives and the soul of the valley. The Emmy-winning series will reintroduce more characters from the Karate Kid franchise as seen in the first photos from the new season, like Mike Barnes (played by Sean Kanan).
Netflix released the first trailer for Season 5 which has Daniel (Ralph Macchio) trying to get Johnny (William Zabka) back since when we last saw him, he left karate behind to concentrate on righting his past wrongs. You can check out the trailer below.
There's a lot to take with this, especially when alliances form and break pretty quickly in the show. Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffth) has gone back to being a walking full-on 80's villain trope as he looks to conquer the valley with a dozen or dojos spread throughout the region. John Kreese (Martin Kove) has become a prison brawler, and Robby (Tanner Buchanan) and Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) square off like never before.
While Cobra Kai Season 6 has yet to be greenlit by Netflix, showrunners Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz have stated in previous interviews that there are plans for the show beyond Season 5. Hurwitz has previously said that the creative team behind the show would want at least six seasons to conclude the show.
Returning for Season 5 will be the returning Courtney Henggeler, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Vanessa Rubio, Peyton List, and Dallas Dupree Young with Oona O'Brien, Griffin Santopietro, and Yuji Okumoto.
You can catch all previous seasons of Cobra Kai now on Netflix before Season 5 hits globally September 9.
