Classic gaming has taken on a life of its own, becoming a source of nostalgia for many who lived through the early years of the industry. So much so that last year a group of die-hard classic gamers put together a convention based around it - the World of Atari.
The organizers of that show have just announced that they'll do it all again on Saturday Aug. 14 and Sunday Aug. 15, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nev. The Classic Gaming Expo '99 will feature prestigious guests like Ralpha Baer (inventor of the Odyssey), Steve Cartwright (Activision designer), and the trio of Arnie Katz, Bill Kunkel, and Joyce Worley (cofounders of Electronic Games magazine).
It'll all take place at the Plaza Hotel, and if last year's event is any indication, it'll be a retro-gamer's paradise.
"We're turning the exhibition areas of Jackie Gaughan's Plaza Hotel into a living video game museum - spotlighting an era that spawned a mammoth industry," said Keith Iida, one of the show's organizers. "Classic Gaming Expo honors the catalysts for many of Silicon Valley's historic corporate and personal success stories."
