Chris Pratt Returns To TV For Amazon's New Military Show-November 2024
Nov 27, 2024 10:00 PM

Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World actor Chris Pratt will star in a new TV show for Amazon about a Navy SEAL who returns from combat to find a new enemy and more drama on the homefront.

According to Deadline, Amazon announced that it bought a new TV show called The Terminal List, which is based on author Jack Carr's ongoing series. The TV show will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, who directed the Oscar-winning Denzel Washington movie Training Day.

Pratt will play the character James Reece. On his final deployment in combat, Reece's entire Navy SEAL team was killed in an ambush. He returns home only to learn that the attack was in fact part of a conspiracy with connections all the way to the top of the government.

"Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward avenging the deaths of his family and teammates," reads a line from the book's description.

You can watch a trailer--for the book, not the show--in the video above.

The Terminal List, and Carr's other books, are based in part on his own experiences as a Navy SEAL. He spent 20 years in the American military, deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan as a trained sniper.

According to Deadline, the production crew for The Terminal List TV show will have military veterans and their families consult on the project, including the writing. Half of the writers are veterans or are related to veterans, the report said. It's also reported that Pratt initially bought the rights to the book, before bringing them to Fuqua, who directed Pratt in The Magnificent Seven.

The Terminal List will be Pratt's first role on TV since Parks and Recreation, which recently returned for a one-off special for charity. There is no word yet as to when The Terminal List will premiere or who else may star in it.

This won't be Pratt's first military production in Hollywood, as he also had a small role in the Oscar-winning Zero Dark Thirty as one of the Navy SEALs involved in the raid to kill Osama bin Laden.
