Update: The Captain Toad Treasure Tracker EU release date appears to have moved again, according to an MCV report. Nintendo is said to have told retailers that they are free to stock the game on Monday December 21st. It is not clear if this "soft launch" applies to other EU countries.
Original Story: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will not release in Europe until a month after the game ships in the US.
Nintendo confirmed on Friday that the Wii U platform-puzzler is expected to launch on January 9 in the UK, meaning it will now miss the holiday season. One possible explanation for the delay is that the Wii U's key Christmas game, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, has also been delayed in Europe and will ship on December 5.
Nintendo revealed Treasure Tracker at E3 in June. The game is a spin-off from the various puzzle levels that appeared in Super Mario 3D World for Wii U, expanded in scope to include more than 70 puzzling stages.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will also support "select" Amiibo figures in 2015, Nintendo recently revealed, meaning that certain figurines can interact with the title.
"Don't overlook Treasure Tracker just because Toad is an untested protagonist," GameSpot wrote back about the game during its E3 preview.
"This is a unique adventure that tests your smarts rather than your dexterity, and is fun to boot."
