Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO impressions-October 2024
Oct 24, 2024 6:18 AM

Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO is in stores today around the nation, and we were quick to get our hands on a copy and start competing online with the other early adopters of the game. Going into the experience, the big question on our minds was whether the game would be laggy. We're pleased to report that the answer is no, for the most part. We did notice the occasional hiccup in performance, particularly when supermoves were being executed or during other sudden shifts in the tempo. Additionally, there's a noticeable pause for several seconds in between rounds, as new characters jump into the fray. However, by and large, the experience of playing Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO online is identical in gameplay terms to playing the game offline, and that is exciting news for fighting game fans.

Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO features an optional simplified control scheme that makes the game more accessible to those unfamiliar with fighting games but also removes much of the challenge of the game. Fortunately, players can screen out those who choose the EO control option using the online custom-match feature. On the other hand, matches conducted using the quick-match feature allow players to choose between the standard controls and the EO controls prior to every bout. After each match, players can choose to play each other again or quit back out to the player-matching menu.

Aside from the all-important online component, Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO is otherwise indistinguishable from the versions released previously for the PlayStation 2 and GameCube. We'll have a full review of the game soon.
