Capcom Rocks Tokyo
Capcom Rocks Tokyo-December 2024
Dec 17, 2024 9:55 PM

As the Tokyo Game Show approaches, several Japanese companies have announced which titles they'll be showing.

While most of Capcom's official lineup includes games that have previously been announced, several of the Mega Man games included in the list are brand new.

The company's list is missing two of its big titles: Resident Evil 2 and Mega Man Neo although it is expected that there will be news on these titles next week - and they most likely will be shown in some form at the show.

Here's the lineup, including release dates:

Bio Hazard Director's Cut (Japanese version of Resident Evil Director's Cut), PlayStation: This is the re-release of Bio Hazard, which includes both the American and Japanese releases plus a special revamped version of the game. Slated for release here as Resident Evil Director's Cut, it includes the Resident Evil 2 demo CD. Release date: 9/25, 4800 yen.

Breath of Fire III, PlayStation: Capcom's first PlayStation RPG in the Breath of Fire series. Announced more than a year ago, the game is finally making it to store shelves right after the Tokyo Game Show. A US release is expected in the first quarter of 1998. Release date: 9/11, 5800 yen.

Street Fighter Collection, Playstation: Includes Super Street Fighter 2, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and Street Fighter Zero Gold on a two-disc collection. Release date: 10/23, and 9/18 (Saturn).

X-Men Vs. Street Fighter, Saturn: (includes the 4 MB RAM cart) The most graphically complex Capcom fighting game to hit a home system yet, this will also be the first game to use the 4 MB RAM cartridge. Release date: November (no specific date set), 7800 yen.

Marvel Super Heroes, PlayStation: The PlayStation version of Marvel Super Heroes is being released more than a month after the Saturn version of the game. It's expected that the PlayStation version will have less animation than the RAM cart-enhanced Saturn version. Release date: 9/25, 5800 yen.

Dungeons & Dragons Collection, Saturn: Includes Capcom's two D&D arcade games, Tower of Doom and Shadow Over Mystara. Release date to be determined, 5800 yen.

Still celebrating Rockman's (aka Mega Man) 10th Anniversary, Capcom is bringing two new games that break the traditional Mega Man mold:

Super Adventure Rockman, PlayStation: This proves that Capcom is taking the Mega Man series into a new realm. It's completely different from any other Mega Man game ever made. Its official genre heading is "Adventure Movie," and that's really what it is. It combines full motion video with action sequences in between. The whole game spans a total of 3 CD's. Release date: 12/4, 5800 yen.

Rockman Dash, PlayStation: Described as a 3-D Shooting Action RPG, this is probably a re-titled Rockman Neo. Release date to be determined.
