Capcom is coming off a banner fiscal year in which profits were more than three-and-a-half times the 12-month period prior, while sales rose 46 percent. The publisher plans to give up some of those gains during its in-progress fiscal year, but it still expects to launch a number of million-unit sellers in the not-so-distant future.
Operation Raccoon City's sales will be sluggish compared to Resident Evil 5. In an amendment to its full-year earnings report issued last week, Capcom said today that it expects the Slant Six developed Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City to sell 2.5 million units. Due this winter for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, the game will emphasis squad-based combat as players assume the role of an Umbrella Corporation operative. Notably, that figure comes in well below sales of Resident Evil 5, which sold more than 5 million units in less than three months.
Street Fighter X Tekken does not yet have a launch window, but Capcom believes the game will sell about 2 million units, regardless. The Namco Bandai crossover was announced at Comic-Con 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, and it will see fighters from the two franchises entering the same ring.
Dragon's Dogma will be a new intellectual property from Capcom when it launches for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2012, and the publisher isn't expecting stellar numbers from the original title. Following its launch early next year, Capcom expects the game will go on to sell 1.5 million units.
However, Capcom is least optimistic about Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, which will be a spin-off of sorts to its mass zombie-slaying action title. Due this fall on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, the game is expected to shift some 800,000 units.
