Capcom revealed in Japan yesterday that the price of the Dual Shock versions of both Resident Evil Director's Cut and Resident Evil 2 (Resident Evil is known as Bio Hazard in Japan) will be lower than previously announced. REDC will retail for 3,800 yen (approx. US$27), while RE2 will retail for 4,800 yen (approx. US$34).
Originally, both titles were set to be released at a higher price, with REDC now 1,000 yen lower and RE2 now 2,000 yen lower. The more reasonable prices will undoubtedly lead to higher sales of the new versions of the games, which Capcom wants.
No word on whether the US versions will see a similarly lower price tag now that their Japanese equivalents have been lowered. REDC and RE2 Dual Shock are set for MSRPs of $39.95 and $59.95 respectively.
