The reboot of Candyman is one of many upcoming horror movies that has been delayed until 2021. The film was originally set to hit theaters in June this year, before it was pushed to September, and then removed from release schedules entirely. It's now been confirmed that it won't hit theaters until August next year.

　　As reported by Deadline, Candyman will now release on August 27, 2021. The film is directed by Nia DaCosta and produced by Jordan Peele. It is a sequel to Bernard Rose's classic 1992 original, which was based on a Clive Barker story, and stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett.

　　There have been several different trailers released for the movie so far. The first was released back in February and revealed that the films stars Abdul-Mateen II as a man who returns to the former Chicago housing project of Cabrini Green, where the legend of the vengeful hook-handed spirit Candyman still persists. This was followed by this powerful teaser which told the legend of Candyman via shadow puppets. And while the return of Tony Todd to the role as Candyman has never been officially confirmed, his voice can be heard at the end of this third trailer.

　　Candyman isn't the only big horror sequel that has been delayed until next year. Halloween Kills was set to arrive this month, but has been moved back an entire year to October 2021. A Quiet Place: Part II will now release in April, while Spiral: From the Book of Saw, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and The Forever Purge will release in May, June, and July respectively.
