Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Rumored for 2019, Single-Player Campaign Will Return
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Rumored for 2019, Single-Player Campaign Will Return-October 2024

Don’t expect Call of Duty to return to a real-world historical setting any time too soon, as word is Activision will be following up this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 in 2019. These rumors come courtesy of Matthew Harris of Gaming Intel, who previously leaked some accurate Black Ops 4 details, and are backed by the reliable CoD fanatics at Charlie Intel.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will, of course, be developed by Infinity Ward, and is said to be more of a traditional CoD experience than Black Ops 4. That means you can expect a full single-player campaign along with multiplayer and Zombies mode. Apparently, a battle royale mode is also being considered for the game, but a final decision hasn’t been made yet.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 rumors first began to circulate back in March when longtime Call of Duty voice actor Craig Fairbrass listed Modern Warfare 4 in his Twitter bio. He quickly changed his bio and issued a rather confusing “clarification,” but the damage was done.

Bit of confusion and over reaction here, as I’ve always had the 5 COD games I’ve worked on, on my mini bio on twitter- any clarification need just look on IMDB.

Some may be leery about the prospect of another futuristic Infinity-Ward-developed Call of Duty game, as the studio’s last two titles, Modern Warfare 3 and Infinite Warfare, received mixed reviews from fans. Thankfully, Charlie Intel reports there’s been a positive shakeup behind the scenes at Infinity Ward – word is, several high-profile Infinity Ward devs who moved to Respawn Entertainment to work on Titanfall have come back home. Names returning to Infinity Ward include the studio’s former lead designer John Mundy, art lead Joel Emslie, animation lead Mark Grigsby, and senior environmental artist Joshua Dunnam. It sounds like the old band is getting back together, so hopefully Modern Warfare 4 is a return to form.

What are your thoughts on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4? Are you willing to give Infinity Ward another chance, or are Modern Warfare’s glory days in the past?
