It appears Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will bring back a beloved feature from past games. Red dots on the minimap are seemingly returning for this year's game, which might sound like a small thing, but their removal has been a major point of contention among the Call of Duty fanbase.
2019's Modern Warfare reboot and 2022's Modern Warfare II removed red dots on the minimap. Players only show up on the minimap when UAV is enabled. People got upset about this change and made their feelings known. Developer Infinity Ward defended the move by saying, "We do not want to punish players for firing their weapons."
With Modern Warfare III, though, red dots on the minimap seem to be back, as evidenced by Activision's text message marketing campaign, as you can see below. More details are expected to be divulged later this week when Modern Warfare III is officially announced inside Warzone on August 17.

In addition to the $70 standard edition of Modern Warfare III, there will be a Vault Edition. If history is any indication, this should cost about $100 and include a variety of digital extras.
Modern Warfare III launches on November 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, as well as PS4 and Xbox One. A beta is rumored to be in the works, too, launching first on PlayStation consoles. Keep checking back with GameSpot for lots more on Modern Warfare III in the days ahead.
