Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare developer Sledgehammer Games isn't too happy with the fact that some game details--like the zombies mode and DNA bomb--leaked ahead of the game's release.

Sledgehammer co-founder Glen Schofield said during a recent Ask Me Anything session on Reddit that pre-release leaks can destroy surprises that a development team works hard to keep locked down. At the end of the day, however, he said he's not surprised the information go out there ahead of schedule.

"I'm not thrilled by it as I've said before, but its part of the world we live in," Schofield said. "As a storyteller and game maker we want the element of surprise there for the player. Spoilers are never good--that's why we have a phrase like spoiler alert. I love the purity of playing the game the way we designed it and finding these things out on your own."

Advanced Warfare launched yesterday through the Day Zero edition, and is available publicly today around the world. It's the first Call of Duty game created on publisher Activision's new three-year, three studio development cycle for the franchise. Advanced Warfare also represents the first game Sledgehammer has led development on, after it worked alongside Infinity Ward on 2011's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
