Bring It On Franchise Takes Stab At Horror With First Trailer For Cheer Or Die-September 2024
Sep 23, 2024 2:31 AM

The Bring It On franchise started in 2000 and had Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union as rival members of high school cheer squads vying for a national title. It eventually spun-off into six direct-to-video sequels, none of which contain any of the original cast members. The last one was 2017's Bring It On: Worldwide Cheersmack, and they all follow a similar plot...until now.

Collider reported last month that the latest entry to the franchise will be a made-for-TV horror movie, and a new teaser showcases both the comedy the series is known for, mixed in heavily with some dark humor and horror, but lets you know upfront this is pure camp.

Bring It On: Cheer or Die stars Missi Pyle (Y: The Last Man), Kerri Medders (SEAL Team), and Tiera Skovbye (Riverdale) and is directed by Karen Lam (Ghost Wars, Van Helsing), who is also the first woman director of the franchise. The film is written by Rebekah McKendry (Glorious) and Dana Schwartz (She-Hulk, Noble Blood) from a story by Bring It On alum, Alyson Fouse.

With the success of this year's horror comedy Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, it feels perfect for some fun Halloween viewing. Bring It On: Cheer or Die is Universal 1440 Entertainment, their direct-to-video branch that is also releasing Rob Zombie's The Munsters later this year as well.

SYFY premieres Bring It On: Cheer or Die on October 8 at 9 PM ET.
