TOKYO--According to Japanese retailers, Konami will be releasing the sequel to Boktai, titled Zoku Bokura no Taiyou: Taiyou Shounen Django in July.
What's currently known about the sequel is that that the main character is Django from the original Boktai and that the game will once again be played by connecting a solar sensor to the Game Boy Advance. In addition to the solar gun introduced in the original Boktai, the Boktai sequel will have more than 60 new weapons, such as swords, spears, and hammers.
Django will be able to use magic to attack enemies, power up his sword, and solve puzzles in the dungeons. Also like in the original Boktai, energy accumulated from the GBA's solar sensor can be used to power up attacks. However, in the sequel, the energy can also be used to create new weapons by forging together two existing weapons at a solar blacksmith's shop.
Zoku Bokura no Taiyou: Taiyou Shounen Django is scheduled for release July 22 in Japan, at the retail price of 5,229 yen ($51). The game's American release has not been officially announced, but some online retailers are listing it with a fall date and an MSRP of $34.99.
