Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Could Make $175 Million Or More During First Weekend In The US-November 2024
Nov 2, 2024 1:34 PM

The next MCU movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is expected to be a box office smash. Early box office estimates for the film have landed, suggesting that the movie could bring in at least $175 million for its November 11-13 opening weekend in North America alone.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, which sourced the number to NRG tracking data, the figure stands to grow bigger as Disney unleashes more of a promotional blitz for the film. A worldwide box office estimate for Wakanda Forever wasn't provided in the report.

For comparison, 2018's Black Panther earned $202 million in North America for its first weekend and went on to make $700.4 million in North America and $647.1 million from international markets for a total global haul of $1.347 billion. Comparisons to the original Black Panther won't be perfect or fair due to the effect of the pandemic.

Ryan Coogler returns to direct Wakanda Forever. Chadwick Boseman, who played T'Challa/Black Panther in the original movie, died in August 2020 from cancer. The script for the sequel was re-written in the wake of Boseman's passing, and Marvel opted against recasting the part.

Wakanda Forever also stars Angela Bassett, Tenoch Huerta, Martin Freeman, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, Letitia Wright, and Winston Duke. The film debuts on November 11.
